Philips Lighting Chooses WinSPC For Statistical Process Control

Philips Lighting, a lighting division of electronics manufacturer Royal Philips Electronics selected WinSPC to automate statistical process control at Philips’ largest lighting manufacturing facility in the U.S.

WinSPC was installed on two of the production lines that manufacture fluorescent lighting components. WinSPC will automatically collect production data to monitor and control product weights, diameters and length. DataNet’s solution delivery team configured the software and trained operators in the phase 1 effort to establish best practices for a plant-wide implementation.

Operators will use WinSPC to collect real-time quality data from various scales, micrometers and calipers and display the data on control charts. The team expects to reduce defect and scrap rates by monitoring and correcting process variations before defective parts are produced. The program is in support of the overall corporate strategy for operational excellence and optimization of processes. The company plans to roll-out WinSPC to over 100 lines at the facility.
