"I want all WinSPC email triggers to be sent to my company email address rather than the WinSPC internal email system. How do I set this up?"

WinSPC email triggers can be directed to any external email address by performing a few simple steps within WinSPC.

SMTP is the preferred method to configure WinSPC email triggers. This is because SMTP involves a single point of setup in WinSPC versus the other option, MAPI, which requires each user to be configured individually. Additionally, when using MAPI, Microsoft security may require permission from the user (the operator) to send any email via MAPI - eliminating the automated nature of the process.

Follow the steps below to set up an email trigger using the SMTP method:

1. From the WinSPC Administrator screen, click Tools and select System Settings.

2. In the System Settings dialog box, on the Email tab, select SMTP and enter the server name or IP address.

3. Navigate to the Trigger Setup dialog box within your collection plan.

NOTE: To access this dialog box, from the Administrator screen, double-click your collection plan and click the
Characteristic Tests icon. Highlight the test associated with the trigger and, from the right pane,
double-click the trigger to open the dialog box. To add a new trigger to the test, instead click the plus
sign.

4. At Trigger Type, select E-Mail for the out of control condition and, at Destination, provide the full email address
of the user to be notified. Click OK.

5. When the trigger fires in Data Collection, an email is sent to the email address configured to receive the
notification.
