"How do I set up an email trigger to return the tag's value rather than just the tag name?"

To bring in the tag value as a string:

1. Select the tag you wish to configure.

2. Set Response Type to Free Format and Response Format to Anything.

3. Open the collection plan associated with the trigger and, in the Trigger Setup dialog box:

a. Under Trigger Type, select E-Mail.

b. At Destination, select the users you would like the email to be sent to.

c. Click the Insert button.

d. In the Insert Special Character dialog box, under Process Variable, select Tag Name and click OK.

e. At Message, manually enter the name of the tag in this format:

{Tag ‘<Insert tag name here>'}

where <Insert tag name here> should be replaced with the name of your tag. See the example below using
the tag name Shift with Response Type. You may also include additional text to describe the data being
displayed such as "...is the time of data entry."

f. Click OK.

4. When the trigger fires, the actual tag value the operator entered will be displayed in the email rather than
simply the name of the tag.
