Cost-based Pareto charts in 2 easy steps

Cost-based Pareto charts may enable users to better prioritize problems or defects based on their bottom-line. Engineers can use it as a tool to drive the selection of Six Sigma projects based the highest potential for cost reduction.

WinSPC allows you to design and setup a cost-based Pareto chart in two easy steps:
  1. First, provide weights (cost estimates based on a scale) for each defect type in the attribute setup.
  2. Change the chart type to Pareto Defects Cost in Data Collection to view the cost-based Pareto chart.

When comparing the two Pareto charts from WinSPC we find:
The highest number of parts had broken lead type of defect, whereas bent parts cost the maximum. Therefore, bent defects should be studied first to reduce cost.
