Six Sigma and WinSPC

Six Sigma is used across the manufacturing industry as a way of improving processes through the systematic removal of defects. Its philosophy, based upon achieving the "Six Sigma" goal of 3.4 defects per million opportunities, has become an important part of continuous improvement, lean manufacturing and total quality management (TQM) initiatives across the globe.

SPC is a required component of most Six Sigma programs, where it is typically used during the "control" phase of the Design-Measure-Analyze-Improve-Control (DMAIC) process. Using real-time SPC software, Six Sigma professionals are able to maintain and control the improvements made through the Six Sigma program, commonly termed "holding onto the gains." Additionally, real-time SPC has proven to accelerate many Six Sigma programs by promoting a leaner, faster DMAIC cycle. This is accomplished by using WinSPC's real-time capabilities throughout the measure, analyze, improve and control phases.
