What's New in Version 7

Easier to use on the shop floor

Blue print data collection mode
WinSPC's new blueprint data collection mode simplifies shop-floor data entry by displaying a blueprint or other image on the screen. It prompts operators to enter readings into the area on an image of the part they are inspecting. This setting makes it easier to avoid manual data entry mistakes by intuitively guiding operators through data collection scenarios using visual cues.

Spreadsheet data collection mode
The spreadsheet data collection mode lets shop-floor operators enter multiple readings into one data collection screen. Two new modes were added enabling administrators to choose between part-by-part or characteristic-by-characteristic entry formats. As personnel enter data, the cursor progresses through a spreadsheet-like column, allowing operators to enter all of a part's characteristics without having to manually advance the data collection screen.

Enhanced automated data collection features

Collect tag values from a variety of external data sources
Eliminate the chore of manually re-entering tag values that have been captured and stored within other systems or files. WinSPC Version 7.1 allows users to import stand-alone and linked tag values from serial devices, text files, DDE servers, OLE automation servers, OPC servers and ODBC data sources.

Expanded OPC server support
WinSPC's expanded support for OPC servers auto-detects and communicates with OPC version 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0 data access interfaces, allowing customers to automatically or manually collect data from the most recent versions of an OPC server.

Improved administrative features for unprecedented productivity

Redesigned collection plan setup
The improved collection plan setup feature offers product administrators one-dialog box access to all the features used when setting up collection plans. Administrators can quickly set up the steps of the collection plan, the tags associated with a collection plan, the appearance and functionality of the Navigator, the appearance and functionality of the visual groups of the collection plan and all other collection plan options.

Enhanced event log
The enhanced event log feature in WinSPC Version 7.1 allows users to easily log and retrieve nearly all system information associated with system activities such as startup/shutdown, security, administration, data collection and violations. The enhancements include superior retrieving, sorting, reporting, and filtering capabilities and were designed to provide customers, such as those in the Life Sciences and Food and Beverage industries, with superior product traceability functionality. All enhancements support FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements for electronic signatures.

Expanded audit trail functionality with integrated reason codes
The enhanced Audit Trail functionality gives organizations the ability to force reason code entries for system modifications in WinSPC. The administrator has an option to enable a system audit trail and specify whether users are required to supply a reason for system changes and, if so, whether that requirement applies to all changes or just changes relating to data that has been collected.

Simplified control test administration
WinSPC offers a new control test administration area and unique toolbar icons, providing users with one-click access to add, edit, and delete control tests and control test templates.

Expanded online help system
WinSPC's expanded on-line help system improves operator learning curves and productivity by providing detailed descriptions of WinSPC screens, icons, features and more. The context-sensitive, online help system consists of expanded descriptions of WinSPC elements and detailed procedures to help you get the most of the extensive functionality WinSPC has to offer. It can be accessed by pressing F1, selecting Contents from the Help menu or clicking any of the Help buttons found throughout WinSPC.

Device folders
Customers who work with a large number of devices can now organize their files into device folders. Device folders function identically to WinSPC part folders and collection plan folders. To organize files and create new folders, administrators simply right-click in the devices branch of the administrator window and select new device folder.
