Advent Solar Selects WinSPC to Support Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma Programs High-Tech Manufacturer Of Solar Cell Modules Assures Product and Process Quality Using Real-Time SPC SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--December 6, 2006-DataNet Quality Systems (DataNet), manufacturer of WinSPC® and QualTrend® quality improvement software, announced today that Advent Solar has chosen WinSPC to perform real-time SPC across its manufacturing operations in Albuquerque, NM. The company manufactures advanced-technology solar cells and modules for residential and commercial use using a new, patented process similar to semiconductor manufacturing. It plans to use WinSPC to prevent defects and assure a better solar cell by controlling the process, inputs and raw material. Advent Solar installed WinSPC throughout its facility in an effort to support the company's Lean Manufacturing program, Six Sigma processes and commitment to superior quality and technology. Operators will use WinSPC to collect, aggregate, test and monitor product and process quality characteristics collected from over 15 various data sources. WinSPC's monitoring capabilities alert shop-floor operators to process violations and trigger corrective actions in an effort to prevent product defects. The company chose WinSPC because of its smart administration, ability to integrate with a variety of data sources, easy-to-use operator interface, and DataNet's experience in the semiconductor industry. As part of the Lean Manufacturing philosophy, Advent's goal is to empower its operators to make process decisions and improve product and process quality at the time of production. WinSPC provides operators with a visual interface to understand, monitor and correct out-of-control processes before expensive errors or defective product is created.
