$12 Billion Electronic Components Manufacturer Selects WinSPC Software for Real-Time Quality Control Initiative

One of the World's Largest Manufacturers of Passive and Electronic Components Deploys Real-time Statistical Process Control Software to Reduce Defects and PPM levels

SOUTHFIELD, Mich.--August 21, 2007 -- DataNet Quality Systems (DataNet), manufacturer of WinSPC® and QualTrend® quality improvement software, announced today that it was selected as the real-time statistical process control software solution by a leading electronic components manufacturer.

The manufacturer is installing WinSPC at its stamping facility, where it will replace an existing, off-line SPC system. WinSPC is being deployed at approximately 20 stations and will collect data from a variety of serial devices, including micrometers and calipers. The company plans to chart the data in real-time to alert operators of out-of-control situations that, if undetected, could lead to defective product. By responding to process variation in real time on the shop floor, the company expects to reduce defects and achieve aggressive PPM target levels.

DataNet's engineering staff - known as the Solution Delivery team - is supplying custom programming services to migrate data from the legacy SPC system into WinSPC. Additionally, the Solution Delivery team is providing on-site training to 10-12 system administrators who are responsible for configuring and managing the system. The three-day training provides all the essentials for the company's Quality team to successfully administer real-time operations, off-line analysis and reporting on plantwide quality metrics.

The company plans to roll out WinSPC to its injection molding and assembly stations during phase two of its Quality initiative. The company reports that one of the key reasons it chose WinSPC was because of its ability to quickly and easily collect data from nearly any serial device.
