Our roots

In 1941, the Detroit Gauge Group was established to supply automotive and aerospace manufacturers with tools, testing equipment and metrology devices. At that time, statistical process control was performed with pen and paper and had just established itself in American manufacturing. The Detroit Gauge Group worked with quality teams on the shop floor, building and integrating devices to measure and improve product and process quality.

Over the next fifty years, Detroit Gauge's manufacturing customers realized increased levels of automation and production capacity. From robots and CNC machines to ERP systems and programmable logic controllers, the pace of manufacturing Quality and control improvements quickened.

In the early 90s, the founders of the Detroit Gauge Group recognized the value of automating Statistical Process Control to improve manufacturing cost efficiency, productivity and profitability. In 1991, Detroit Gauge developed the first Windows-based, real-time SPC software solution: WinSPC. In 1995, Detroit Gauge formed DataNet to provide Quality solutions applicable across a full spectrum of manufacturing industries. DataNet continues to invest in and develop real-time Quality solutions that have become fixtures in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Total Quality Management programs of leading manufacturing enterprises.
