Boost Your Quality Program and Maximize WinSPC

By reading the white papers below, you'll learn about optimizing your use of WinSPC, improving your quality program, and raising your bottom line.

Six questions to ask before linking Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) to Statistical Process Control (SPC) software

Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) can help you slash inspection costs, greatly improve inspection capabilities and improve final product quality. But for all their benefits, CMMs do not improve the manufacturing process. There is a big difference between “making quality products” and “inspecting quality into your products”.

"mini Sigma": How to achieve Six Sigma benefits on a tight budget

Six Sigma and Return On Investment (ROI) have become the Quality mantra of this decade. Virtually every large organization has a quality initiative that focuses on reducing scrap, increasing throughput and improving the bottom line. The Six Sigma methodology and the associated promise of large ROIs have spread through boardrooms of large corporations at an amazing pace. But small- to medium-sized companies often have been slow to adopt Six Sigma primarily because of the up-front investment in staff, training and tools.

"Cost Inspector": How to Cut Costs and Quantify Savings Using WinSPC’s Cost Inspector

The feature at the heart of this approach is the Cost Inspector (TM) and, because of its unique design, it offers a more accurate solution than has been available in the past. The concept of the Cost Inspector is straightforward. It provides users with an interface to submit the costs assigned to a process. Once those costs are submitted, it cross-correlates them with the distribution of the variable data collected for that process.

The files on this page pertain to WinSPC Versions 8 and 9. If you require files for an earlier version of WinSPC, or are unable to download the files below, please contact technical support for assistance.

  1. Download install.exe, ServerInstall.exe and the Installation and Configuration Guide.pdf from the links provided below.
  2. Use the Installation and Configuration Guide to complete your installation. (As stated in the guide, Install.exe must be launched from the first computer on which WinSPC is to be installed. Subsequent computers can be added using a common directory to access files.)
  3. Links are also provided to optional files that are not created as part of the installation process. Download any of the additional linked files, tools or resources applicable to your situation.

  1. Download install.exe, ServerInstall.exe and the Upgrade Instructions.pdf from the links provided below.
  2. Use the Upgrade Instructions to complete your upgrade. (The upgrade process has changed considerably with Version 9.  It is therefore important that the new Upgrade Instructions document be closely followed. As stated in this document, Install.exe must be launched from the first WinSPC client to be upgraded. Subsequent computers will detect this change and access a common directory to load the necessary upgrade files.)
  3. Links are also provided to optional files that are not created as part of the installation process. Download any of the additional linked files, tools or resources applicable to your situation.

Versions of WinSPC older than 1.63 can be upgraded to WinSPC 9. This upgrade, however, is a multi-step process and it differs from the process documented for upgrading from a version newer than 1.63. DataNet Quality Systems recommends that you make an appointment with technical support to guide you through your upgrade.

Achieve Regulatory Compliance

DataNet customers are able to improve manufacturing profitability and lower the cost of regulatory compliance by using WinSPC as their real-time SPC solution. WinSPC offers customers in heavily regulated industries--like food and beverage, cosmetics, and life sciences--a cost-effective and precise method to assure safety, performance, and compliance. Transportation equipment providers, who must perform SPC as a requirement of ISO and TS certification, use real-time WinSPC as a fast, effective method to assure product quality while lowering their overall cost-of-compliance. In addition to meeting regulatory requirements, over 80 percent of DataNet customers also report that WinSPC has helped them:

  • Increase product quality
  • Improve manufacturing yield
  • Reduce scrap, defects, waste or give-away
  • Improve manufacturing profitability

How one metal manufacturer reduces scrap and consistently meets quality compliance requirements

“This is by far the best tool we have used to look at our processes and make improvements. Over the past 4 years, WinSPC has been a key tool in helping us control our processes and meet compliance requirements from our customers.”

Quality Manager
Metal Manufacturer

In order to become a supplier to the automotive industry, this steel and wire manufacturer had to not only assure product quality, but maintain the proper documentation required for certification. Because it was a small company, it needed to find a cost-effective way to maintain certification without putting the business in the red.

WinSPC gave them this capability. It offered simple, yet powerful SPC tools that “non-statisticians” could understand. Plus, the fast reporting tools allowed the company to quickly create and maintain the documentation necessary for certification. As a result, the company was able to improve profitability and meet its certification requirements. Using real-time SPC, the company reports it reduced scrap and rework by 30 percent, increased yield, and was able to recoup their software investment within six months.
